Dream! You, me and every other human on this Earth dreams of something; something that is frivolous to the mind. The mind has its own definitions of fun, love and the life. Fun for it can be anything like playing cricket or any other game, driving a SUV on express highway with 200 km/h speed, watching a movie or any thing one can feel fun in. Love for it can be love with parents, a first love with the girl next door and love with friends. A big pay package, a very good home in preeminent society and so on can be its parameters for the life. We tend to slot our lives in different definitions for these three things, but what if one thing defines all the three; fun, love and life.
Well, when the writer of this blog doesn’t care for it why you folks should bother? This isn’t the story of dreams, philosophy, relations between love and truth but the boy who never dreamt.
The Mercedes Benz stopped near the Darling Harbour. Darling harbour another beautiful place in another beautiful city, the hometown being the first beautiful city of the boy getting off the car. “Thank you, boss” his smile and eyes with gratitude were enough but still the words have a magic so he appreciated the boss and also wished sayonara to the friend sitting behind, Nikhil. The boy’s name is Digvijay and they call him DJ. The story behind the nick name will come later.
“DJ, Dockside is just there if you go as the crows fly” directed the boss.
“Yeah, thank you again” he replied.
But why will DJ walk straight to the Dockside where ‘Her Honour Mayor of City of Sydney’ and Vice-chancellors of top three universities were about to hold an official welcome party to International students when he never walked that way in his whole life. Yeah, in the whole life! He thought to himself if he is close to the venue just ahead of time why should he go there immediately, as always he thought. He was amazed by the pleasant ambience around. Looking at the brave birds near the wharf and the skyline behind the dockside DJ’s inner self gotten placid like the water there. Walking around sometime, finally he entered the dockside, the hall just near the wharf. Entering there the security asked him whether he has the uni badge with him if not then he can collect it from the uni counter. They mean University when they say uni in Australia.
“UTS??” asked the girls at one counter.
University of Technology, Sydney aka UTS, one of the most reputed universities in the world. For a few moments DJ was not present in the present, some cold waves were touching his body making him shiver for a few moments, he was sitting on a ground in front of ZP (Zilla Parishad) primary school and around him were many pupils trying to read the things written on the blackboard. But only a few were able to read it, others just felt like those things written on the blackboard were just some kind of diagrams which are irrelevant to them. That time DJ was one of few not the others. He was the boy who loved being called “chhote Doctor” (Doctor Jr) in the beautiful small town, and why wouldn’t he? Because when we are born, we are a blank slate, devoid of any ambitions, aims or desire. But it is a matter of time before the slate starts getting full, with plans our parents make for us and before we know it, we are a doctor even before we know what a doctor is. DJ was son of the best doctor in that town. The advantage and the disadvantage of living in small town are that almost everyone knows each other and if you happen to be son or daughter of some reputed personality then you are really a celebrity. DJ used to boast on his plans about becoming a doctor when he grows up. Only thing he didn’t know was what he’ll need to become the Doctor.
“May be you will need this crocodile clip” the Chinese girl at UTS counter suggested DJ.
Coming back to present he smiled at the girl and said “Ohh, Thank you!”
